How to think and grow rich . 24 years ago, a man named Harry Miranda gave me the book you see on the right — Grow Rich with Peace of Mind. I do not know why he gave me the book, other than letting me know with a caring Father like attitude “Son, I want you to read it.”

And given that below the book “Grow Rich with Peace of Mind” was written ‘by the author of Think & Grow Rich’. It was my dream to find that book in Dubai, UAE. And mind you — this was the pre-internet era — around 1993.

I searched and searched but couldn’t. Just couldn’t.

One fine day while walking to a ‘part-time job’ — I saw a book shop. I walked in as I normally would to see if I could read any book or magazine for a few minutes for free — and Loh and Behold! I saw ‘Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.

I grabbed that book as if my life depended on it. I scanned through the pages — it was the book I wanted.

I checked the price — it was USD $5. But I didn’t have $5. So I decided that I would come whenever I could and read a few pages — until I saved up enough for the book.

So I started making rounds to the book shop.

One day the book shop owner, who was now familiar with the fact that I was coming frequently to read this book .And then when I told him I was saving money for this book — he offered the book on a discount — letting me know — if I wanted — he would give me 2 books for a discount.

I was super happy. It took me 2 months but I made sure I saved enough money to buy both the books. And these 3 books became the 1st ever books I collected — that too at the age of 16.

How did it change my life?

It made me believe that maybe — just maybe I was special and that I too could achieve “BILLIONS” of Dollars.

For a village idiot like me and for an era where there was no internet — to know I could achieve my dreams and do anything and everything in the world — was a blessing.

I didn’t end up becoming a billionaire, neither did any of the techniques in the book help me

And that is why even after 24 years — I have still treasred these books. To my uncle Harry Miranda — where ever in the world you are today — Thank you for the life changing gesture and the most valuable gift you could ever have given any child.

I owe this success that I have today and the person I am today — to you
